Our three part sensor system can aid in simplifying standardizing and increasing our biological cultivations

SENSOR

The ODin sensor is a simple-to-use, yet highly advanced, sensor for automated OD measurements. A unique patented magnet based alignment of sensor with an inner reflector is a key aspect in the robustness of the technology and the rapid set-up time. The sensor emits light which is reflected by the Inner Reflector. The reflected light passes through a subset of the cell culture media between the Inner Reflector and the inner wall of the shake flask. As the light returns to the sensor, it provides the basis for the OD measurement. The sensor is self-calibrating, and also measures the movement of the shake flask to assure measurements are performed at the exact right time when the wave of cell culture media passes by the inner reflector.

INNER REFLECTOR

The Inner Reflector serves a a mirror for the ODin sensor. In front of the mirror, the Inner Reflector has a specially designed liquid chamber which is continously filled and drained with the passing of the wave of cell culture media, minizing influence of foam on the measurement. The unique patented magnet based alignment with the sensor, keeps the position konstant throughout your experiment and allows for the remote monitoring of the cell growth in the vessel.

BASE UNIT

Formed to fit your standard shake flask holder, the Ygdrasil base unit can collect data from up to 16 ODins sensors at the time. The Ygdrasil is connected to an external monitor placed outside your incubator.

How it works

So simple anyone can use it!

1) Number of sensors you want to use

2) Frequency of measurements (from every 10 seconds to 1 data point per hour)

3) Provide name and location of your data file

Set-up in lab

1) Insert the inner reflectors into the shake flasks

2) Capture the magnetic inner reflector with its corresponding ODin sensor on the outside of the shake flask

3) Connect the sensors to the base unit
